Somatic Counseling + Trauma Resolution

The framework of somatics teaches us how to work with and through the human body, rather than against it, as we continue to evolve inside ourselves and alongside each other.

What is Somatic Counseling?

Somatic Counseling sessions are designed to support you to gain deeper levels of body based and and nervous system awareness. Through a deeper awareness of our body and nervous system responses we are able to create new and healing experiences, break out of old patterns and stories and support our body and being to let go of past traumas.

These sessions are for exploring the areas of challenge in our lives and meeting them in ways that create growth. Most often clients come in seeking support around their personal relationships, attachment styles, sexuality, relationship to their body and how past experiences and trauma impact these areas of their lives.

While conventional therapy such as CBT, can help us gain a cognitive awareness of our past experiences, trauma and wounds, somatic work helps us to integrate this awareness into the body. We take a bottom up approach working with the connection between body-based sensations, emotions and how this shapes our experiences and beliefs.

Somatic sessions are a safe space to feel fully, learn to regulate your nervous system, and come into deeper awareness and empowerment in how you move through the world. Working through a trauma-informed, neuroscience-based, Polyvagal theory framework these sessions provide a playground for understanding our nervous systems, bodies, and ways of being regardless of whether or not we’ve experienced trauma.

(For an overview of what Polyvagal Theory is, check out THIS resource by my teacher Deb Dana)

Somatic Deep Dive Sessions are designed to create deep, integrated change and transformation by working with all levels of your being - body, nervous system, inner-child, heart and spirit! When we learn how to come into deeper connection with ourselves we are able to experience the connection we long for in all our relationships and out in the world.

Somatic Counseling Sessions Can Include:

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Hakomi Therapy

Polyvagal Therapy & Trauma Healing Work

Hands-on Somatic Bodywork*

Exploring Expanded States through Shamanic Practices*

* are only offered in-person currently

I currently see clients virtually M-Th and in-person 2 times a month on Fridays in Mill Valley, CA

Recommended Pacing:

I recommend 6-8 sessions (1x a week) over the course of a month to 6-8 weeks and then checking in about a cadence that is right for you. This type of work flourishes in an on-going container and relationship, especially when working with a history of trauma. For folks who have not experience therapy before I recommend working with a therapist alongside this work. Bi-monthly (2x a month) containers are available on occasion.

Corporate Consulting, Coaching & Leadership Training

It is human nature to constantly evolve, however we cannot forget what makes us uniquely human in this revolution. We must take into account our beating hearts & desires for connection, our sensory, temporal, and physical bodies that take in the world and create our reality; we must remember that these are our greatest assets. This is what makes us uniquely human and distinctively alive.

What we are being faced with now in our society are the results of trying to leave our humanity out of technology. We’ve caused a collective imbalance in our bodies, communities, and the environment. Now we are sitting with the challenge of making technology and our choices more humane and in service of collective wellbeing.

And at this turning point I see the space for somatics to become mainstream. The ripe possibility and vital emergence of tapping into this somatic “technology” that combines neuroscience with experiential practices that connect us to the undeniable, sensory, human realm.

The somatic revolution is one of working with the body and with the earth, rather than against these precious resources. It is what each of us individually, as companies & organizations, and collectively desperately need. It is true sustainability and transformation that transcends what technology alone could do. This is emergence.

I work with mission driven companies & entrepreneurs to create revolutionary results, a new understanding of sustainability, cutting edge  and company wide education & training, and an unbreakable sense of individual and collective connection to mission and purpose.

Client Testimonials

“One of Caity’s first questions that I will never forget (and will continue to repeat over and over again when I describe my experience in being coached by Caity) was, “What if there was nothing about you to fix?”.

Believe it or not, this simple, direct and powerful question changed my life.

It changed my perception about who I am and the world around me. There is nothing to fix because I am whole as I am. I lived my entire life hoping and working toward fixing myself.

Caity held me accountable for my actions and also my desire to connect to myself and to experience life from my heart.

Her determination and skillful way to instill confidence and self-awareness was smooth. I found Caity’s sense of calmness to be contagious.

She was understanding, supportive and stood up for my goals, even when I refused to move forward.

I highly recommend Caity because working with her changed my life.
— Alison Reynoso, Life Coach
Coaching has given me a perspective that I never had before. This perspective has helped me to normalize many of the struggles I’ve been through and still carry with me. Coaching has helped me to realize that I CAN identify what I want, and that I can make a plan to achieve it. It has given me a process for listening to my heart.

Caity is a warm, understanding, and insightful person. She knows how when to give guidance, or to demand more of her client, or to simply offer support and compassion. She has helped me identify what I care about and to develop constructive ways of achieving it. Caity gives complete focus during every call, and she learns who you truly are as your relationship grows.
